What a stellar performance for a first-off, making the whole family of supporters proud:-)" A huge thank you to Birel Arts team, for excellent insights, top mechanics, and impeccable working environment. Once again a huge thank you to Finarenco (R. & E. Käser) for all their support.

Apart from skill, a go kart racer needs passion and love for the sport
By V.M. Simandan 15/04/2017 Sports
Josh Dufek is a 12-year-old half British half German boy with a passion for karting who lives and goes to the local school in Le Vaud in Switzerland. In this interview he talks about his passion for go karting and his dreams for the future.
When did you get into go karting?
I convinced my parents to let me try karting at 7 years old. We get Wednesday afternoon off school for our sports. My mum took me to Vuiteboeuf karting track 45 minutes away and I loved every second of it. I was told by the guys that worked there that I should join a team. We found one in the next village called “JD racing”. That’s how it all started at 7 years old.
What’s on your mind when you race?
Nothing really, I just enjoy it. I enjoy the feeling it gives me inside. It makes me feel alive!!!
Tell us about your last go karting race. How did it feel?
My last race was last weekend in Mariembourg, Belgium. In the training sessions I was flying, I was really happy with my speed. On race day I qualified 7th; it was really close between us. In the final I made some nice passes and got up to third place. On the last corner I left the door open and I was overtaken so I ended up 4th.
Were you happy with your result?
Every race is a learning experience so although I was a little disappointed because I could have had a podium finish I was still happy with my results.
At what age did you know you wanted to become a professional race driver?
At 3 years old I was watching F1 with my dad and I said to him, “Papa, I want to do that when I’m bigger.” Even from 10 months old I was apparently never without a car in my hand.
ADAC Masters | Ampfing
What a first race weekend of the German championship ADAC Masters in Ampfing!
Josh flying, he just dominated the last race of the German ADAC championship, going almost half a second quicker than everyone else all weekend long! He has won 3 out of 4 races including pole in qualifying...
Joshua showing fantastic results, his speed and times were really impressive, please see below regarding results:
Genk | Belgium
"Great test in Genk last weekend, going fast in both wet and dry conditions. A big thank you to the HTP Kart Team and Kevin my mechanic! Can't wait to race at my first Euro championship race this weekend."
Very snowy Wintercup in Genk
12 February 2017
Qualifying: P3 from 28 karts in very cold and wet conditions… Josh felt he could have won the qualifying with one perfect lap and no traffic!”
2 good races and a very good final race earned him a 7th place in the end.
Please see video below of final race, where Josh lost some places in the first part of the race due to a lack of experience in working the carburettor:
Max Verstappen's home track Genk | Belgium
Josh testing at Max Verstappen's home track in Genk (Belgium) last weekend, 4/5 February...
Josh loving the wet conditions: he is running fastest during several sessions and enjoying himself overtaking one kart after another as he flies through the driver's field!
"Can't wait for the next race in a few days:-)"
From Sarah Dufek, Joshua's mum:
"Wow... 1st International Karting race: 'DUBAI O-PLATE’, what an experience! So proud to see Joshua's confidence and talent on this tough track... he produced his usual speed and gutsy driving! (TOP 3).
He qualified in 14th and made it back up the leader board to finish 5th for the final race. In the final he fought to 3rd position early on in the race. Due to grip issues with his back tires he struggled with a sliding kart in the corners. Losing a couple of places he finished 8th with extra penalties!
Bursting with pride and admiration to be so competitive at this level.
He wouldn't have looked so smart in his kart if it wasn't for Alberto Martinez Romeu who secretly designed him a new helmet and generously gave it to Josh as a surprise Xmas present. Thank you! Thanks also to Christian Voss for being his excellent mechanic, and my wonderful family for their love and support, Martin ReginaldOliver, Nalva Improta, Melanie Oliver, James Improta Oliver, Karen Oliver, You made our trip to Dubai incredible!!!”
